Haze Daze Reverie

Jutting angles
all over the place

It’s a face
clouded in smoke,
a dragon’s toke

I hear of abuses,
they tug like nooses

It’s a shame
to say the name
of the beast–

              It looses
its fury on lambs,
on angelic daughters

It damns them
to a life
of eternal summer slaughters

              It’s a face
etched onto your brain,
a way to explain

We are not alone
in this blame;

It’s a hell
to live with these scars
that aren’t even ours

Unleash a fire
that refuses to tire

It’s a pyre
for the liar
in jagged attire

A face in mid-scream
is a victim,

a recurring dream

I picked at them,
those dangling,
ragged threads

The dragon is unravelled,
he falls in shreds
at the feet
of the smoldering dead

could be a spoken word piece…the rhythm and rhymes are pleasant even as the feelings are complex and deep.
